After winning three awards at the 68th Annual Grammys, the “I Am Not Okay” singer told Entertainment Tonight that one statuette is going to his wife, Bunnie XO, who previously said, “I’m getting one for sure ‘cause I feel like I earned it.” Another will live in his studio, as he explained, “That was my dream.” As for the third statuette? It’s heading to Davidson County Sheriff Darren Hall to be put in the local jail in Tennessee.
His fellow “Star Search” judge Sarah Michelle Gellar jumped in to explain Jelly Roll’s unique decision, saying, “So people know there’s life after.” The country star nodded in agreement.

Before becoming an award-winning musician, Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, spent time in and out of jail for various charges and felonies. During his acceptance speech for Best Contemporary Country Album, he thanked both his wife and Jesus for saving his life. “I want to thank my beautiful wife. I would have never changed my life without you. I would have ended up dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that,” he said.
He went on to explain the inspiration for his album “Beautifully Broken,” saying, “There was a time in my life, y’all, that I was broken. That’s why I wrote this album. I didn’t think I had a chance, y’all. There was days that I thought the darkest things. I was a horrible human. There was a moment in my life that all I had was a Bible this big, and a radio the same size, and a six-by-eight-foot cell. And I believe that those two things could change my life.”

He added, “I believe that music had the power to change my life, and God had the power to change my life.”
