The Everson Museum of Art announced six new members to its board of trustees.
The new trustees are Isaac Budmen of Budmen Industries, Louise Rosenfield, David J. Foor, Dirk Sonneborn, Gia Mahmoud, and Ed Cronk. Their appointments bring expertise spanning technology, business, philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, and energy infrastructure to the downtown Syracuse museum.
Budmen has collaborated with the Everson on innovative projects, including the research, mapping, and 3D printing of the historic Scarab Vase for the Touching History: Exploring the Scarab Vase exhibition.
Rosenfield, a Dallas-based ceramic artist and nationally respected collector, previously served as an honorary board member and is the namesake of Louise Café. She donated the ceramic works featured throughout the café and has supported student memberships at the museum.
Foor, president of Visual Technologies, has more than four decades of experience in the audio-visual industry. Since acquiring the company in 1981, he has grown it into a full-service firm serving education, business, hospitality, legal, medical, and government sectors across Central New York. Both Foor and Sonneborn have supported the museum through exhibition and program-related giving.
Mahmoud, vice president of portfolio and project management at National Grid, brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in the energy sector and has board experience from her work with other nonprofit organizations.
Cronk, a CPA with Bowers Advisors LLC, serves as the board’s treasurer. As a CFO advisor and partner, he has expertise in translating strategic vision into effective operational models, with experience overseeing marketing, financial, legal, IT, and HR systems.
Sonneborn is a former executive director of The Gifford Foundation and held senior leadership positions at CNY Community Foundation. He also spent more than a decade as an adjunct in entrepreneurship at Syracuse University.
The board is led by Ryan McDermott as chair, with Daniela Molta as vice chair and Maggie Goss as secretary.
Founded in 1897, the Everson Museum of Art was the first in the U.S. to focus on American art. Located in downtown Syracuse, it is known for American ceramics and modern art collections, housed in a building designed by architect I. M. Pei.
