The Shadows of Tomorrow era of X-Men storytelling is fully underway, bringing new arcs across flagship titles including X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, and Wolverine. The line continues to expand with ongoing launches such as Generation X-23, Inglorious X-Force, Wade Wilson: Deadpool, and X-Men United, alongside limited series including Cyclops, Magik & Colossus, Moonstar, Rogue, and Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant.
May is shaping up to be a pivotal month for the X-Line. Cyclops’ Alaskan X-Men squad faces its toughest test yet in the new “Danger Room” arc from Jed MacKay and Netho Diaz’s X-Men. Meanwhile, at Haven House, the New Mutants arrive as the Outliers vanish, launching a new mystery in Gail Simone and Luciano Vecchio’s Uncanny X-Men. The long-teased identity of INMATE X continues to move toward its reveal. Graymatter Lane remains a central location for mutant conflict in Eve L. Ewing and Tiago Palma’s X-Men United.
Elsewhere across the line, Cable inches closer to uncovering the assassin responsible for the first mutant president in Inglorious X-Force. Laura Kinney confronts the Facility alone in Generation X-23. Wade Wilson collides with Hammerhead in Wade Wilson: Deadpool. Logan suffers a devastating loss in Wolverine, one that leaves lasting physical consequences.
Several limited series also push forward. Rogue uncovers a hidden truth tied to a forgotten Brotherhood of Evil Mutants mission in the finale of Rogue. Cyclops prepares for his last confrontation with the new Reavers in Cyclops #4. Dani Moonstar searches the past to save every soul on Earth in Moonstar #3. The Rasputin siblings must unite against the ancient witch Baba Yaga in Magik & Colossus #4.
Recently revealed in our exclusive column X-Men Monday, Furaha, the daughter of Storm, makes her arrival in Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant #4. Writer Murewa Ayodele expands on the mysterious future X-Kid, who first appeared to Storm in a vision during last year’s X-Men: Hellfire Vigil one-shot.
“I love Furaha so much. Every fan art of hers I see warms my heart,” Ayodele told us. “It brought me great pleasure to finally get to write Storm and Furaha interacting together on the page. I find their exchanges extremely wholesome.”
May also brings the conclusion of a major anniversary event with X-Men of Apocalypse Omega #1. The issue serves as the final chapter of Jeph Loeb and Simone Di Meo’s Age of Apocalypse anniversary series.
