A driver traveling the wrong way on I-70 collided with a tractor-trailer, which then caught fire, as two other tractor-trailers also became involved in the crash early Tuesday morning, Pennsylvania State Police said.The wrong-way driver and the driver of the first tractor-trailer were both taken to the hospital, while the other two truck drivers were treated at the scene, police said.”We’re not sure how we don’t have a three-way fatal as of this morning. At the same time, he said, the wrong-way SUV was on a slight right curve.”At that time, and a high rate of speed, the SUV hits head-on with that first tractor-trailer,” Gagliardi said. “Right away, the tractor-trailer goes off to the left, hitting the median jersey barrier. The SUV then hits into tractor-trailer number two, and then proceeds to almost pinball in between both sets of tractor-trailers, spinning all the way out at the very tail end, hitting into a third tractor-trailer.”That second tractor-trailer then hits the right side of the road, tries to course-correct, hitting the median again and kind of exploding on that median. The whole median is kind of gone at this point; we have to work with PennDOT to do a quick repair there.
