First round action at the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires continues with seven matches on Tuesday. Daniel Altmaier is chasing his first win of the season when he faces home favorite Juan Manuel Cerundolo. We also predict the rest of the day’s matches in a separate article, featuring Matteo Berrettini vs Federico Coria. Who will advance?
ATP Buenos Aires Day 2 Predictions
Tomas Barrios Vera vs Thiago Seyboth Wild
Head-to-head: Barrios Vera 3-2 Seyboth Wild
These two players are locked at two wins apiece on clay, although Barrios Vera came out on top in their 2023 Wimbledon qualifying match to take the head-to-head lead. Seyboth Wild lost to Andrea Pellegrino in the Buenos Aires qualifying but enters the main draw as a lucky loser. There are reasons for the Brazilian to feel optimistic about his chances. He was a quarterfinalist in this tournament 12 months ago and on clay, his forehand has more shape and depth and he is the aggressor in this matchup. After an underwhelming Australian summer, Seyboth Wild found some form in late January at the Challenger level.
Prediction: Seyboth Wild in 3
Roman Andres Burruchaga vs Laslo Djere
Head-to-head: first meeting
Burruchaga had a quietly strong year in 2025, winning 40 out of 58 matches on the Challenger Tour. He lifted three titles at that level (all on clay). It’s been a year since Laslo Djere had strong results at Tour level. Djere has played some of his best tennis in South America, winning two of his three ATP title in these parts and he can be trusted to steer his season on the right track this week.
Prediction: Djere in 3
Ignacio Buse vs Francesco Passaro
Head-to-head: Buse 1-1 Passaro
Buse and Passaro have split their two meetings on clay, with each match going the distance. Buse won their most recent clash at the Heilbronn Challenger last season where Buse won the tournament. Passaro earned his way into the main draw with a couple of qualifying wins against Nicolas Kicker and countryman Marco Cecchinato. Buse has been out of action since competing at the Montevideo challenger in November. His goal was to play at the Australian Open but he it appears he was not fit. I would give Passaro a slight edge.
Prediction: Passaro in 3
Facundo Diaz Acosta vs Alejandro Tabilo
Head-to-head: first meeting
Diaz Acosta enters the main draw with the reputation of being of a former champion. His ranking was not high enough to warrant automatic entry and was handed a wild card. Despite his poor record on hard courts, Diaz Acosta has regularly played well on clay and owns a positive win-loss record in back-to-back seasons. In three trips to Buenos Aires, Tabilo has won two matches, but he is the player with real momentum here. The Chilean was a runner-up at the Concepcion Challenger at the start of the month.
Prediction: Tabilo in 2
