The ATP Buenos Aires 250 event in Argentina has started off with some great tennis, and Day 3 promises to be more of the same. As ever, we preview and predict the five scheduled matches for you.
ATP Buenos Aires Day 3 Predictions
Round of 32
Emilio Nava vs Mariano Navone
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Emilio Nava comes into the South American clay court swing not having any outstanding results on the clay. He faces Argentine Mariano Navone, who is still searching for his first win of 2026. Nava has managed to qualify for Auckland and nab a first round win in Melbourne but on the clay courts, the Argentine is favoured to dig in and eke out a victory.
Prediction: Navone in 3
Round of 16
Matteo Berrettini vs Vit Kopriva
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Matteo Berrettini managed to bag his first win of 2026 after pulling out from the Australian Open. The Italian will look to gain momentum as the year progresses and a good week here may just do that for him. He takes on Czech Vit Kopriva, who does play well from the baseline but has struggled on the main Tour to put up decent performances. Expect Berrettini to turn back the years with a dominant win.
Prediction: Berrettini in 2
Roman Andres Burruchaga vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry
Head-to-head – First Meeting
This should be an interesting battle of the Argentines. Roman Andres Burruchaga has carried his good form from last week’s finals appearance in a Challenger event at Rosario. He easily took out the tricky Laslo Djere and now faces a fellow countryman in Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Etcheverry had a decent Australian Open but clay courts are where he shines, so he should be looking forward to this week. Expect Burruchaga to keep it highly competitive but Etcheverry is more experienced at this level and he should have enough firepower to get over the line.
Prediction: Etcheverry in 3
Joao Fonseca vs Alejandro Tabilo
Head-to-head – Fonseca 0-1 Tabilo
A lot of eyes are on Joao Fonseca as the 19-year-old tries to cement his place as one of the top players on the Tour. The Brazilian bowed out early in Melbourne and as a result he is still searching for his first win in 2026. His first match here this week won’t be easy by any means as Alejandro Tabilo is highly dangerous on the clay courts. The Chilean reached the finals of a challenger event last week and enters this match in good form. Expect Fonseca’s struggles to continue and Tabilo to upset.
Prediction: Tabilo in 3
Francisco Cerundolo vs Hugo Dellien
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Francisco Cerundolo had a fantastic start to 2026 with a fourth round showing at the Australian Open. The Argentine and no doubt the crowd favorite this week begins his campaign against Hugo Dellien who has done well to qualify but there surely exists a firepower differential from the baseline. Cerundolo has reached the finals here twice, including last year. Expect Cerundolo to progress easily and really push this week for his first title of the year.
Prediction: Cerundolo in 2
