NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Zion Williamson is well on his way to earning a full salary for future seasons. All he has to do is play in a total of 61 games this season.
Because of his current 29-game streak, he’s more than halfway to a big payday. Williamson has managed to stay healthy, which has led to good play from him this season, averaging 21 points per game.
He credits his good health to the work he’s been doing off the court.
“A lot of the extra work I’ve been doing with my trainer, Kris, in the Pels as well,” Williamson said. “I think that extra work and just the focus on my body have done a lot and allowed me to play as many games consecutively. But at the same time, I got to give respect to the team for trusting me to play that amount of minutes and allowing my minutes to still grow. So I’ve been real happy about that.”
The Pelicans take on the Miami Heat tonight at 7 o’clock on Fox 8. This is the final game before next weekend’s All-Star break.
