BOW, N.H. —

Bow Elementary School’s principal was struck by a vehicle in the school parking lot Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers responded to the school around 9:50 a.m.

Police said the principal was struck while assisting with parking lot traffic near the start of the school day, which was delayed Wednesday morning because of the snow.

The principal was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Police said the driver was identified as a parent dropping off a child at the school.

“If you’re dropping off your kid at school, drive slow and you got to pay close attention,” said Lt. Matthew Pratte of the Bow Police Department. “There’s a lot of things going on. A lot of cars moving, a lot of people directing traffic. So, you just got to really pay close attention.”

The superintendent said the district is working with Bow police to review procedures and ensure safety measures are in place.

Police said crash witnesses can contact School Resource Officer Serena Shuter at SShuter@bownhpd.gov.
