The rumor mill was right: Angel Reese is rejoining Unrivaled.
The Sky star has agreed to a new deal with the 3-on-3 league for the remainder of the 2026 season, Unrivaled announced Wednesday morning.
Reese teased the possibility on a recent podcast episode with her former Sky coach and current Unrivaled coach, Teresa Weatherspoon. Weatherspoon said she was fighting for Reese to return to Unrivaled, and Reese said she would like to, she just didn’t know when.
“Maybe you might see me, maybe you might don’t,” Reese said on her show, “Unapologetically Angel.”
With three games remaining in the Unrivaled regular season, Reese is officially returning to her former team, Rose BC, on Feb. 20.
Rose currently sits in fifth place out of eight teams. Returners Chelsea Gray and Kahleah Copper lead the Rose in scoring, but they’re still fighting to make the playoffs.
A little more Reese could be just what Rose needs. It might be just what the league needs, too.
Though Unrivaled recently set the attendance record for women’s pro basketball with a tour stop in Philadelphia, television ratings declined in Year 2. The league is averaging 149,000 viewers per game across TNT and truTV, according to an Unrivaled spokesperson.
Some of that drop-off is natural. The buzz of a new league doesn’t last forever. It also hasn’t helped that two of the league’s biggest names, Sabrina Ionescu and Napheesa Collier, were sidelined by injury.
Unrivaled did create a development pool to train younger players and replace injured players when necessary. But none of them command the following Reese does.
“You entertain people, that’s why they get their butts in the seats to come and watch you,” Weatherspoon told Reese on her podcast.
Reese’s profile keeps expanding, from fashion shows to new business ventures and now acting. She recently landed a role on the Netflix series “The Hunting Wives.” On the court, she was named to the 2026 FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament roster, which will compete in March in Puerto Rico.
Still, Reese said she missed Unrivaled.
“I miss the development,” she said on her podcast. “I can try stuff, I can do whatever, and I can take it and implement it to the W.”
In Unrivaled’s inaugural season, Rose won the championship and Reese was named Defensive Player of the Year.
This season, playoffs begin on February 28, with the championship set for March 4.
