Leksand coach Johan Hedberg believed Detroit prospect Eddie Genborg deserved a five-minute match. not the two-minute penalty he received, for the blow to the head he delivered to Detroit prospect Anton Johansson in a recent Swedish Hockey League.
Former NHL goalie Hedberg believes that because his player Andrno Kaderli received a match penalty for a similar blow to an opponent.
“There are different assessments from game to game,” Hedberg said in a television story. “A (five) for us the other day for the same thing and (two minutes) today with the same judge, so I don’t know,” Hedberg told TV4 after that game.
Aftonbladt has a video accompanying its story on the controversy:
Officials looked at the Johansson hit on replay and still gave Genborg the minor penalty.
In a Swedish television interview between periods during that game, Genborg said:
“I go after the puck and don’t even see that he’s standing there. Can’t do much. I have to go where the puck is,” Genborg said on TV4 during the period break.
Johansson, like Genborg a top 10 prospect, left the game after the hit.
