Following the release of The Muppet Show revival special with Sabrina Carpenter, the team is reportedly working on more episodes. Disney has not officially greenlit a season or more specials.
The rumor comes from journalist Drew Taylor on episode 345 of his podcast Fine Tooning. Taylor said to his co-host Jim Hill, “They’re working on writing episodes right now for future installments, Jim, so I just hope that it happens.”
Ahead of the special’s release, it had a 100% Tomatometer (critic score) on Rotten Tomatoes. That has since only dropped to 98% with an audience score to match. The critics consensus reads, “It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights — this spirited return to The Muppet Show‘s roots is clever, earnest, and feels exactly right.”
The standalone special, directed by Alex timbers, featured Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel. Carpenter was the special guest, alongside appearances by Maya Rudolph and executive producer Seth Rogen. Carpenter, Timbers, Vogel, and Jacobson also executive produced, along with David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, Michael Steinbach, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, and Albertina Rizzo.
It premiered on Disney+ and ABC on February 4, 2026.
