Dallas Mavericks rookie phenom Cooper Flagg will not be a part of NBA All-Star Weekend after an MRI revealed he recently sprained his left foot.The Mavericks said Flagg sustained the injury in the team’s game against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday.Flagg will miss the Mavs’ game at the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, as well as the NBA’s Rising Stars mini tournament on Friday.The 19-year-old from Newport, Maine, has averaged 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks per game in his first NBA season.Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, is a front-runner for Rookie of the Year, as he has been named Western Conference Rookie of the Month in each of the season’s first three months. He has made NBA history by setting the scoring record for a teenager. Flagg also became the youngest player to score 30 or more points in three straight games and ultimately extended that streak to four games.The Mavericks have lost eight straight games, but Flagg averaged 29.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists during that losing skid.Flagg was set to be one of the featured players in the Rising Stars event, which features the NBA’s top rookies and second-year players, as well as top NBA G League players.The Rising Stars mini tournament features three teams drafted by Basketball Hall of Famers. Flagg was also the No. 1 pick in this draft by Carmelo Anthony.Even with Flagg’s absence, there will be a Maine connection in the Rising Stars event. Ron Harper Jr. of the Maine Celtics is on the G League All-Star team coached by Austin Rivers, who played 11 years in the NBA.
