Academy Award winner and Garden State native Anne Hathaway is back in New Jersey — this time for a new Ron Howard-directed film based on a true story.

Edison Mayor Sam Joshi told My Central Jersey that one day of shooting took place near Edison High School along Melville Road and Glenville Road last week.

Joshi also told the publication that the future movie is called “Alone at Dawn,” which is based on the book of the same name and tells the story of John Chapman, a soldier during war in Afghanistan who saved the lives of 23 fellow service members. Chapman was fatally wounded while fighting to protect his team and was awarded the Medal of Honor.

Hathaway plays an investigator in the film, Joshi also said.

Other actors starring alongside Hathaway in the film include Adam Driver, Betty Gilpin and Devon Bostick.

NJ.com reached out to Joshi’s office for additional comment, but no response was received at time of publishing.

Hathaway grew up in Millburn, attended Millburn High School and performed at the Paper Mill Playhouse before launching her Hollywood career. Her other project, the highly anticipated “Devil Wears Prada 2,” is set to be released in theaters on May 1.
