Alan Shearer has weighed in on Mamadou Sarr’s competitive Chelsea debut against Hull City tonight, with the Premier League’s all-time record goalscorer rather impressed.

Chelsea booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup after a 4-0 win over Liam Rosenior and Liam Delap’s former club Hull City.

Pedro Neto was on top form, scoring a hat-trick amid all the criticism he’s received recently.

Liam Delap also silenced some of his doubters with an incredible second half performance, laying on three assists for his teammates and holding the ball up brilliantly.

But they weren’t the only two who impressed, as Mamadou Sarr also put in a display to remember.

“Mamadou Sarr has done well. Everything he has been asked to do, he has done it well.”

Mamadou Sarr did so well that he even broke a Chelsea record for his 98% passing accuracy (completing 101 of 103 passes). This is the highest completion rate by any Chelsea center-back in a single match this season (minimum 60 passes).

Liam Rosenior’s thoughts on Mamadou Sarr’s display

Liam Rosenior had already worked with Sarr during his time at Strasbourg, so he knew the exact quality the defender possessed.

Speaking after the game, the Chelsea boss had this to say.

“Mamadou was everything that I expected. I know Mamadou so well.

“I think the acclimatisation, adaptation process for him hopefully will be faster because he understands the way I want to play, and he already showed that today.”

Sarr is set to be a big part of Chelsea’s plans, having been added to the Champions League squad.
