They were later seen walking back home on Concow Road.

Emilia Erickson captured video footage of the camels on Jordan Hill Road heading back to their home.

Erickson told Action News Now that her neighbors own the camels, which have trackers on them.

She believes the camels may have been spooked by a predator, possibly a cougar, causing them to wander.

According to Erikson, they wandered about five miles from home, across a creek and two main roads to get to the highway. The owner found them and herded them back home safely.

The California Highway Patrol and Butte County Animal Control also responded.
