Search efforts continued Saturday in hopes of locating a missing man last seen over a week ago near the Mon River in Washington County. She said on Friday, February 6, her brother had gone to a bar, known as the Drunken Hippie, in Monongahela to meet up with his roommate. She said his roommate later left, and Shelby ran into an old classmate and began hanging out with her and her best friend. The classmate then invited Shelby and roughly seven others back to their house. “They were having a good time in her kitchen, listening to some of his music,” Jessica said. “He was using her boyfriend’s phone to play music; he makes music, he was showing them that.” Jessica said all the guests were later asked to leave, and four people, along with Shelby, left. The others stayed overnight at the home. “Everyone left the house at the same time,” Jessica said. “Shelby was on foot. There were two cars, two people in each, I believe, and they waved to Shelby. They saw him heading towards the shed in the back of the house that was close to the river.” Jessica said no one thought anything of Shelby walking towards the shed and leaving. She said that after he hadn’t been heard from for hours after that, he was reported missing.His phone was later found near the bank of the river days later.She said she is holding onto hope that her brother will be found safe. “He had a lot to look forward to coming up,” Jessica said. “He had a feature on a very popular rapper’s song. He was also going to; he got cast to be in the Mayor of Kingstown.” She continued, saying, “Shelby, if you’re somehow seeing this, please, please, please, get a hold of somebody. Please get ahold of us. We love you. We’re worried sick.” The Donora Fire Company said in a post on social media that the fire company and swiftwater rescue officials searched the area on Thursday, but due to “darkness and large ice dams on the river,” the search had to be suspended. Officials resumed their search on Saturday. They have not confirmed if anybody has been found in the river. Jessica said he was last seen wearing a blue cap with gold trim on it, a black hoodie, and jeans. He was believed to have also been wearing black shoes. His sister said it did not appear that Shelby had been dressed for the current weather conditions.”So far today, multiple departments have been searching,” Jessica said as efforts resumed Saturday morning. “They pulled a dog out with the search team. I gave them some of his items of clothing, for the dog, just in case. We haven’t heard anything if they have found anything.” This is a developing story.
