A classic rock band is planning to release its first new album in 10 years.

Heart singer-guitarist Nancy Wilson said in a new interview with Andy Frasco’s World Saving Podcast that she and her sister, Heart’s lead vocalist Ann Wilson, are writing songs right now. It would be their first full-length record since 2016’s “Beautiful Broken,” and mark just over 50 years since their 1975 debut.

“I go through these phases. Right now I’m in a phase of really feeling like creating some new songs. And I’ve got songs going on,” Nancy said. “But I feel like this is the perfect time for Heart — this year, next year — to make a victory lap out of our legacy. So I figure we need to make one more Heart album.”

It’s unclear when recording would begin, but Heart is currently on tour with concerts scheduled through mid-March. The lineup includes the Wilson sisters, who co-founded the band in 1973, and members of Ann’s solo band Tripsitter.

“And especially with these players that we have in the lineup right now in this band, we’re just really excited to play together, and there’s no limits on what we could pull off as musicians,” Nancy said, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. “So I’ve got a few songs, and Ann’s working with those guys in her side band right now writing other songs. But I think I’m gonna want to make the last Heart album and do the victory lap and make 2027 mainly about the Heart film, the Heart documentary.”

A Heart biopic has long been in the works at Amazon Films with a script written by Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney and “Portlandia” fame. Nancy Wilson said last year that she’d love to see see acting sisters Elle Fanning and Dakota Fanning play the Wilson siblings, but casting has not been announced.

Heart, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, is a female-led hard rock band known for hits like “Alone,” “Barracuda,” “Crazy on You,” “Magic Man,” “These Dreams” and “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You.” Ann Wilson, 75, who was successfully treated for cancer in 2024, also leads the side project Tripsitter. Nancy Wilson, 71, is additionally known for composing songs for films like “Almost Famous,” “Jerry Maguire” and “Elizabethtown,” directed by her former husband Cameron Crowe.

Heart has more than a dozen tour dates scheduled over the next month, but no New York stops. Fans can look for concert tickets on Vivid Seats, StubHub and Seat Geek.
