Of all the players to have yet to make All-Star, Boston Celtics point guard Derrick White is among the names most often brought up as being the guy who might have made the annual exhibition tilt based off what he adds on the court. This season, his shooting slump likely made the ever-present, just-out-of-reach honor a bridge too far, but White says he isn’t irked about the slight.
Speaking on a recent episode of his “White Noise” podcast with cohost Alex Welsh, the Boston floor general said he feels “fine” regarding being passed on for All-Star this season. “I didn’t really expect to make it,” he added.

“Obviously, there’s been a lot of great players that made it,” he continued. “First-timers and so no knock on any of them. They definitely deserve it and it’s a great accomplishment to everybody made it – and I’m going to enjoy my All-Star break.”

“feel like I’m doing stuff to help the team win,” said the Celtics guard “Obviously, this year has been kind of crazy and I’m not shooting the way that I wanted to, and so it’s affected things. But I feel like I’ve done a pretty good job of keeping a positive out mindset and doing everything other things to help the team win”
“If I shot it the way I know I’m capable of, … I probably would be one, but it is what it is, and I’m just going to enjoy an All-Star break, keep trying to help us win games.”
