Liverpool will be looking to continue the squad rebuild that started last summer, and long-time target Anthony Gordon makes sense for a couple of reasons.
The squad needs to be fleshed out with some clever Liverpool-type signings who can help address the depth issue.
There will be room for one or two more high-profile moves, and that could include returning to the negotiating table with Newcastle.
Who gets your vote for man of the match in an excellent win over Brighton, and why?

With Curtis Jones’ Liverpool future in question, it gives us another reason to want Gordon to come to Anfield.
Anthony Gordon to Liverpool would ensure a local element
There are less and less Liverpool natives making it in the first-team.
In fact, there are very few English players left in the squad.
Jones is happy with his Liverpool form, but not necessarily with how often he is getting to play. Should he agitate for a move, it would be a landmark moment for the club with no one born in the city playing a significant role.
Gordon, a Scouser, would kill two birds with one stone.
Not only because of where he’s from, but how he plays. Especially how he plays against Liverpool, actually.

He’s pacey, direct, and more akin to a Luis Diaz than anyone currently in the squad.
He would cost a pretty penny, but it’s a position Liverpool need a long-term solution for. Whether Jones stays or goes, Gordon is a target that should be pursued.
He has a relationship with Alexander Isak and his work-rate would be a huge addition to the front line. That he would help bring some semblance of a local feel to the side is just a bonus.
Jones is a tricky one.
He’s a valuable squad piece and a player any top club would want.
The issue is that, at 25, he probably wants to be a bigger factor for his team. That could force him to move elsewhere.
Slot was asked about the midfielder’s future before Liverpool’s FA Cup win against Brighton.
HYPOTHETICAL: Liverpool can only have one local lad in the squad next season…
Who are you choosing and why? 👀

He said in his press conference: “It’s completely normal that top clubs show interest in him, just like we’re working on extending his deal while others want to sign him.
“He’s in our plans for the coming weeks, the months ahead, and next season as well.”
That sounds pretty concrete, but we know how quickly things can change in football.
It’s better for Liverpool if Jones stays, but should he choose to explore pastures new, it should push Liverpool towards a move for Gordon. Even if no sale happens, the Newcastle star would be an exciting addition.
