A suspect is in the hospital after a shooting involving a SWAT officer in Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County. The incident began around 6:30 p.m. Saturday when police were called to Rodgers Drive for reports of a person firing shots into a nearby home. Court papers said a “victim was inside the kitchen” of a neighboring home, standing by a window, and heard a “pop” and a loud ringing in their ears. The victim told police they then felt glass hit their face.The neighboring home was occupied by at least six people at the time the incident occurred. Officers then tried to approach the suspect’s home when the suspect who fired the shots came outside and began yelling at officers. Police said the suspect was making statements that included “Just shoot me.” Westmoreland SWAT was called to the scene to assist shortly after, and police were able to secure an arrest and search warrant. According to officials, SWAT officers barricaded the home and tried to negotiate with the suspect inside. However, the suspect then began firing shots through a window at SWAT officers. Officers returned fire, hitting the suspect. Police say no officers were hurt. The suspect was taken into custody and had to be flown to a Pittsburgh-area hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive his injuries, according to officials. According to the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office, the suspect has been identified as Jordan Lindner. He is currently facing charges of aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, and recklessly endangering another person. “I’m just glad it’s over. All the community safe. And, you know, it was excitement for what we have here. A lot don’t happen here,” Randy Bargerstock said. Neighbors told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 police responded quickly and kept everyone safe.
