Beach 104 104.1 WCXL Kill Devil HillsAfter acquiring the licenses of 92.3 WZPR Nags Head and 104.1 WCXL Kill Devil Hills NC last year, East Carolina Radio Inc. officially relaunched both stations at the start of 2026.

104.1 WCXL assumed the Conservative Talk lineup that had been heard on 1240 WCNC Elizabeth City, while 92.3 WZPR is running a separate lineup from Salem Media Network. WCXL’s lineup features programming from Bloomberg in mornings from 5-9am followed by Premiere Networks’ trio of Glenn Beck from 9am-12pm, Clay Travis & Buck Sexton 12-3pm, and Sean Hannity 3-6pm. Westwood One’s Mark Levin follows from 6-9pm, with Alex Jones and Coast to Coast with George Noory rounding out the weekday lineup.

1240 WCNC is now carrying iHeartMedia’s “Black Information Network” despite its signal completely overlapping with their own 92.1 WHBT-FM Moyock NC/Norfolk VA.

East Carolina agreed to acquire WCXL and WZPR in late 2024 along with OBXToday.com as part of the bankruptcy liquidation of JAM Media Solutions after a previous deal to sell all four of JAM’s FMs in northeastern North Carolina and two in Iowa to Davis Media failed to close.

WCXL previously operated as Hot AC “Beach 104” until the end of April 2024 when it lost its tower lease in the bankruptcy proceeding and moved its programming to the former Rock “Z92.3“ WZPR. That station would then go silent at the end of July 2024.
