A costly error on Vanderbilt allowed the Horned Frogs to take a two-run lead in the eighth inning. TCU, which scored three runs in the frame, overcame a ninth-inning home run to beat the Commodores and secure its first win of the season. Sawyer Strosnider and Lucas Franco, making his collegiate debut, each homered for the Frogs, who totaled six hits in the game.
