Skinner signed a 1-year, $3M deal with the Sharks this past summer. He’s now free to sign on with any team as an unrestricted free agent.
The 33-year-old has just six goals and 13 points in 32 games with the Sharks this season. A lower-body injury kept him on the shelf for about three weeks from mid-November to early December.
He was been a healthy scratch for three weeks heading up to the Olympic break. He last played on January 11th.
In 16 NHL seasons, Skinner is a 10-time 20-goal scorer, topping out at 40 in the 2018-19 season with the Buffalo Sabres. Overall, he has played 1,110 NHL regular season games, with 379 goals and 712 points. He’s averaged 16:36 of ice time per game, though that has been plummeting the past few years, and was only averaging 12:21 this season in San Jose.
