Talkative pundit Jordan sought out one ex Gers star for insight into the German’s coaching style

Simon Jordan is now convinced Rangers can win the title this season after getting the lowdown on Danny Rohl from one ex Ibrox winger.

Sunday’s emphatic 4-2 victory over league leaders Hearts was Rohl’s 14th triumph in the Premiership in 19 matches, of which he last lost just one. They now trail the Jambos by just two points and are one clear of Celtic in third – albeit their Old Firm rivals have played a game less.

Wide man Josh Windass was heavily linked with a return to Rangers last summer but has ultimately stayed with English Championship high-flyers Rangers. The 32-year-old previously played under Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday for two years, where the latter managed to keep the Owls in England’s second tier despite the club’s uncertain future off the pitch.

Jordan is good pals with Windass away from football and the ex Crystal Palace chairman turned outspoken talkSPORT pundit has revealed he sought the player out to learn the secrets to Rohl’s title charge at Ibrox.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan said: “I spoke to Josh Windass about him and he was full of compliments [about Danny Rohl], and the only thing Danny Rohl needs to say is: ‘Since I’ve arrived here, we’re top of the league in performances’.

“That’s his job. That’s what he was brought in to do. I do think these guys are going to hunt Hearts down and I saw that in the game yesterday, which I thought was a great spectacle in terms of the atmosphere for the Rangers-Hearts game.”

In the wake of the win over Hearts, boss Rohl took the opportunity to shoot down snipers who have questioned whether his team have what it takes to go all the way in the remainder do the season.

He stated: He said: “Big respect to my group, I think we showed today how big is the personality, how big is the character. Let’s not speak until the end of the season about the mentality of this group, because we have a lot of mentality.

“We fully deserved over 90 minutes to win. We gave them two presents today. I cannot really remember that they had a more dangerous situation.

“We were in the game, we played even before the conceded goal with high intensity.

“I think as well, when you look at a week like this, and you know you have two big games where you need over 90, 95 minutes high intensity, then you have to take the squad like it is, because otherwise you cannot do this 72 hours again and again.

“That was the reason I made the decision this week.

“At the end we won, big credit to my group, we played good football. Now it’s about recovery, enjoy the evening and then we go again.”
