OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – One person is in custody after an incident Tuesday morning in Omaha.
Police officers were seen at Benson Tower, near 60th Street and Northwest Radial Highway, shortly before 8:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Lt. Ryan Hinsley of the Omaha Police Department told First Alert 6 that the incident began with a traffic stop near 65th and Boyd streets.
Hinsley said the person in the vehicle drove away, and Able-1, OPD’s helicopter, later spotted the vehicle at the apartments.
Officers went into the building and found the suspect, according to Hinsley. The suspect was taken into custody.
Officers are still on the scene, investigating whether the person discarded any illegal evidence, OPD said. First Alert 6 is told the person was charged with flight to avoid arrest.
