After 30 years in mornings at Connoisseur Media Classic Hits “95.7 The River” KLKL Minden/Shreveport LA, ‘Lovable’ Larry Ryan is retiring from radio ending a 60+ year radio career after the station cut his show.
Ryan had been brokering time to host mornings at KLKL since 1996. He posted on February 5, “Don’t look for us in the morning on The River, 95.7, as we were told our services were no longer needed. Hey, it has been a good run, but the new owners have other plans. What am I going to do? Pretty sure something might pop up fairly soon. I do want to thank those of you that have listened to us over these many years. Thak you, very much !”
An Iowa native, Ryan first arrived in Shreveport in 1964 to first join 710 KEEL. Along with a few stints at KEEL, Ryan also owned 1070 KBCL in the market and has also worked in markets stretching from Little Rock, Waterloo and Cedar Rapids IA, Austin, Mobile, and had a brief stint in mornings at “US 99” WUSN Chicago in the late 80s.
KLKL will be adding Compass Media Networks’ “Anna & Raven” for mornings starting February 24.
