America’s 250th anniversary takes place July 4 and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh students, staff, faculty and the public are invited to events throughout the year that reflect on the milestone anniversary.

A complete and updated list of events is available at the USA 250 website.

“There is something about round-number anniversaries or birthdays that make us reflect on the past,” said UWO Professor of History Gabe Loiacono. “So we, at UW Oshkosh, wanted to reflect on the history of the United States of America in a special way in the year 2026, 250 years since the Declaration of Independence.

“Throughout the year 2026, we will host or assist with a variety of events to help us reflect on United States history and 1776 in particular. From public conversations to formal lectures to short film viewings to object exhibitions to drink sampling to singing, we will mark this year in a lot of ways. Come join us! If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to email page@uwosh.edu or call (920) 424-7065.”
