The Cañon City Police Department is seeking information on the whereabouts of a suspect involved in an early morning stabbing, according to a press release.
A Cañon City Police Officer located a 23-year-old male with a stab wound after hearing a woman screaming near Harbor Freight, 1811 Fremont Drive, during the early morning hours of Tuesday.
The discovery prompted an investigation, and officers determined that an assault had occurred minutes before the officer arrived. Witnesses reported a disturbance between the victim and a male suspect, identified as Kenneth Elliot, 42, of Cañon City.
During the altercation, Elliot allegedly stabbed the victim and fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. The victim was treated at St. Thomas More Hospital and later released. Officers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate Elliot.
After processing the scene and collecting witness statements, an arrest warrant was issued for Mr. Elliot on the following charges:
• First Degree Assault (F3)
• Menacing (F5)
Elliot is described as a white male, 6’1”, 175 pounds, brown hair, blue eyes.
The Cañon City Police Department advises that Elliot should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should not approach him.
