It was a very long season for legendary tight end Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs. Not only did the Chiefs’ nine-year run of winning the AFC West come to an end, but Kansas City missed the playoffs entirely.

Kelce’s partner and friend, superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, even went down with a brutal ACL injury that ended his season early and has an outside chance of affecting his availability for the start of the 2026 campaign.

On Christmas, with the Chiefs already eliminated from the playoffs, Kelce sat down for an interview with former tight end Tony Gonzalez and got candid about the shame that he is feeling.

“It’s frustrating, I feel like I can’t even look my guy, coach Andy Reid, into his eyes right now, because I feel like I just disappoint or I let him down someway, somehow, throughout the year,” Kelce said to Gonzalez.

Fans reacted to Kelce’s harsh words for himself online.

“Travis your absolutely out of your mind thinking you let anyone down, you were a main ingredient in bringing this team (back)from the literal lowest a team can get,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Mr. Kelce, you are not a disappointment to anyone that’s a true fan. It’s been a very hard year in maybe the toughest division in the leauge. It’s hard for all. Players and fans know the truth,” someone else added.

“We love you Trav decide what is best for you but one more would be great!” one fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Travis puts off retirement for another season in an effort to win his pride back.
