Amad Diallo has talked up the importance of Bruno Fernandes alongside two former Manchester United players after he arrived at Old Trafford from Serie A outfit Atalanta.

The Red Devils paid an initial fee of £19m and agreed a further £18.2m in add-ons to bring the 23-year-old Ivorian forward to the Premier League club in 2021.

Does Amad need to produce more for Manchester United?

The Ivorian is the clear odd one out right now.

Amad Diallo became a Manchester United player during the reign of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and took some time to finally break into the Red Devils’ first-team squad.

The Ivory Coast international has had loan spells at both Scottish side Rangers and Premier League club Sunderland during his time at Old Trafford so far.

However, Amad began knocking on the door of the United first team during the reign of Erik ten Hag and successfully made himself a key player since then.

Amad Diallo appeared on Manchester United’s official podcast and the former Atalanta talent was asked if he bonded with any players after he first signed.

The Man Utd winger singled out former Red Devils teammate Eric Bailly, who has also played alongside him at international level with the Ivory Coast.

“I think I will say Eric because we are both from the Cote d’Ivoire, we are both from [the] Ivory Coast, so I had more [of a] relationship with him,” he said on Inside Carrington.

Along with Eric Bailly, who now plays for La Liga side Oviedo, Amad admitted that he shared a close relationship with former United and France midfielder Paul Pogba.

“But once Eric leaves and Pogba, also because Pogba speaks French, so I will say the main man was Bruno [Fernandes] because he speaks Italian,” he added.

“So, he was the guy who was doing the translation for me because my English was not really good.”

Amad could not hold back the vital role that United and Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes played in helping him settle into life in England after his move from Italy.

“So, he was the main man who was helping me even outside the pitch, even when I was home,” he continued.

“He was telling me if I need some things, if I need to work on some things, if I need a chef, if I need a physio.

“So, he was the main man who was very [much] helping me a lot. So, Bruno was the [man], and even now he’s doing the same job.”

Amad admitted that the treatment that he has received from Man Utd captain Fernandes is something that he is not alone in getting at the Red Devils.

“He cares about everyone; he takes care of everyone,” he added.

“So, it’s very important to be a leader for the club.”

Amad has made 21 appearances across all competitions in the 2025-26 campaign and the United star has netted twice and registered three assists so far.
