Jacksonville-based rapper Lil Poppa died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office in Georgia.
The medical examiner’s office told TMZ about the ruling just one day after authorities pronounced him dead. He was 25 years old.
Lil Poppa was part of Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group and had released an album last year. His single “Out of Town Bae” dropped just last week, marking one of his final releases.
Born Janarious Mykel Wheeler, the rapper had several hits in recent years, including the track “Love & War.”
Lil Poppa’s last Instagram post, which announced the music video for “Out Of Town Bae,”’ has been flooded with comments from grieving fans and acquaintances.
