PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Trail Blazers converted the two-way contract of forward Sidy Cissoko to a standard NBA contract, the team reported Friday.
Portland, which had the maximum number of players on its roster, waived guard Rayan Rupert in order to create the roster space to convert Cissoko’s contract.
Shams Charania of ESPN reported the new contract is a two-year deal.
Under the terms of the two-way contract, Cissoko was limited to being active for 50 NBA games. He reached that threshold before the All-Star break, which meant that in order for him to be able to suit up and be available to play in any more games this season, the Blazers needed to convert him to a standard NBA contract.
Cissoko is averaging 6.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 22.3 minutes per game this season. He has been a consistent member of the rotation for the Blazers this season, starting 24 games, as Portland has dealt with numerous injuries.
He was originally selected 44th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2023 NBA Draft. He signed a two-way contract with the Blazers in February 2025.
Rupert was selected 43rd overall by the Blazers in the 2023 NBA Draft. He had career averages of 3.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in 139 career games.
