READING, Pa. – The Reading Area Water Authority is calling on its customers to voluntary reduce their water use by 10% to 15%.

This comes as the state’s Drought Task Force has elevated Berks County to a drought warning.

The latest update from the U.S. Drought Monitor says most of Berks is in a “severe drought.”

RAWA is asking people to stop all nonessential water use.

According to its website, the following are prohibited: watering of lawns and outdoor areas; watering golf courses; washing vehicles, paved surfaces or other outdoor areas; filling or topping off of pools; and serving water in eating places unless specifically requested.
