With the rebrand of Sports “95.7 The Fan” 950 WROC Rochester NY as “WGR Rochester” Audacy CHR Regional Brand Manager Mike Danger will come off-air as co-host of “The Sports Bar” to focus on his management duties.
Those duties will include a new role as Operations Manager for the Audacy Rochester cluster. Danger has co-hosted “The Sports Bar” with Gene Battaglia since 2016 after holding additional roles at the cluster since 1997 when he arrived at CHR “98 PXY” WPXY as evening host. Danger would rise to APD/MD of WPXY the following year and Program Director in 1999. He would later add programming duties for Alternative “94.1 The Zone” WZNE from 2000-2003 and Variety Hits “98.9 The Buzz” WBZA from 2011-16. Danger has served as Regional Brand Manager since 2021 also overseeing programming for WEZB New Orleans, WRVQ Richmond, and WNVZ Norfolk in addition to WPXY.
As part of a longer post, Danger shared, “The time has come for me to hang up the headphones. This is not a decision I made lightly, but it is one that creates growth for my family and for the people and radio stations I care deeply about.
For nearly ten years on The Sports Bar, and almost twenty before that on The Buzz and 98 PXY, I have had the privilege of being one of the voices you hear in this community. If you have ever listened, called in, agreed, disagreed, or argued with me, thank you. It has meant more than you know. I have been given the opportunity to become the Operations Manager for Audacy’s five Rochester radio stations: 92.5 WBEE, 96.5 WCMF, 98.9 The Buzz, 98PXY, and The Fan Rochester. Talking sports every afternoon with Gene Battaglia and with all of you has been a lot of fun. But the part of this business I have always loved most is building something bigger than myself. Developing talent. Strengthening brands. Creating momentum. Making a difference in the community we serve. This new role allows me to do that on a larger scale across all of our stations.”
