Misty McMichael, who was part of the successful lobbying effort for her husband Steve’s inclusion into the Pro Football Hall of Fame before his death in April 2025, was arrested Friday and charged with domestic battery.
Will County sheriff’s deputies arrested McMichael, 55, at a Frankfort home, where she was accused by an unnamed man of arguing for hours and choking him. A witness said the two had been arguing. Records indicate she was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and physical contact. She was booked at 7:23 a.m. Friday.
Steve “Mongo” McMichael died at 67 in April, four years after being diagnosed with ALS. The defensive lineman played for the Bears from 1981 to 1993 and ranks second in franchise history in sacks and third in tackles.

He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in August 2024 after a successful lobbying effort. He received a gold jacket at his Homer Glen home, with fellow Hall of Famers Richard Dent, Jimbo Covert and Mike Singletary by his bedside.
