When the Golden State Warriors lost Jimmy Butler to a season-ending injury, at least they still had Stephen Curry.

Right now, though, Steph is out, too.

The Warriors take on the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. The game will be nationally televised. Curry won’t be playing.

It’s a bummer for everyone who has become a fan of Steph through the years, and they’ll just be hoping he’s back soon.

Why isn’t Steph Curry playing today?

Steph Curry is out on Sunday as he deals with a lingering knee injury.

Curry missed the Warriors’ final five games before the All-Star break.

He’s dealing with patellofemoral pain syndrome in his right knee, more commonly known as “runner’s knee.”

When is Steph Curry coming back?

Curry’s return date is still to be determined.

He had an MRI when he returned to the Warriors from the break, and on Thursday (Feb. 19), Golden State announced Curry would be re-evaluated in 10 days.

On Friday, Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area, “I mean, it’s not going the way that I wanted it to, but I think we’re in the right direction of getting back out there as fast as possible.”

Golden State lost Thursday to the Celtics, 121-110, and would love to get Curry back sooner rather than later.

The Warriors sit eighth in the Western Conference entering Sunday’s game with the Nuggets.
