FT: Crystal Palace 1-0 Wolves

Crystal Palace

More from Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, speaking to BBC Match of the Day on the fans: “For me, it’s important that they support the team and they did it until the end. Of course the fans are like us all, disappointed with some results and some parts of the game, that’s normal. Of course, I don’t expect them to celebrate us when we don’t win, when we don’t perform right, but on the other side and this is no criticism because this is what they always did since I was here and when I arrived the club was in a very bad situation and I felt support from the first day. Generally, in life when you have bad moments you need support and this is important and thy did it until the end. Hopefully we face more wins and the mood around the club will be better and we will enjoy our life much more.”

On whether he wants to stay until the end of the season: “For me, Oliver Glasner is not important. Crystal Palace is important. For me, if the club had though they need a change then I don’t want to be in the way. That is what I meant.

“I spoke to the board, to the chairman, to the sporting director and they said ‘No we think you are the right one’. This is for me important, not that I say I will stay or whatever because we had the best two years in Crystal Palace’s history and then it’s not so easy for a club to say ‘hey, it’s better you leave.’ Then I said it from my side, if you believe it’s better for Crystal Palace then let’s talk it together but they said no, no we believe in you.

“I talked to the players because that’s for me important it’s not that I have to live in London because otherwise I don’t know what to do. No, the most important thing is Crystal Palace and I am here 100 per cent to be successful for Crystal Palace. I need the players, I can’t do anything, OK I can go into my office but that’s it. It’s important that the payers are believing in what we are telling them, I and the staff.

“It’s important that the club is believing in us, that we can get this turn around and this season successfully. And this is what I talked about, I don’t know if the club has a different idea I don’t want to stay in the way and then we will find a solution. I didn’t say I will step back, I will resign whatever, so maybe now it is clearer.”
