The blizzard that’s covered New York in snow and got Sunday evening’s Broadway performances canceled also took made its impact on this morning’s live TV shows in the city: Both of ABC’s signature daytime talkers, Live With Kelly & Mark and The View went on without studio audiences today.

With more than a foot of snow – and counting – on the ground and a city-wide travel ban ordered by NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani (which expired at noon ET), the talk shows had little choice but to proceed without the usual studio audience claps and hoots.

Whoopi Goldberg, addressing the situation remotely on The View today with a Zoom-style appearance reminiscent of the Covid days, launched the episode by explaining, “I’m coming to you remotely because this crazy historic blizzard that is slamming the East Coast has snowed me in. We even told the audience, stay home! I mean, come on, look at it out there.”

The show’s cohosts Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines and conservative commentator Amanda Carpenter (filling in for Alyssa Farah Griffin, who is on maternity leave) appeared at their usual spots at the studio table as Goldberg participated remotely.

Earlier this morning, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos carried on with their show sans a studio audience or EP Michael Gelman.

“It is a snow day around here, and Gelman is stuck in Florida,” Ripa said at the top of the episode. “So we are running the show everybody!” Live! staffers took seats in the audience section.

Carson Kressley, former Queer Eye For The Straight Guy host, braved the weather to appear in studio with Ripa and Consuelos. “I love New York on a snow day because you can just walk in the middle of the street,” he said, then pointing to what appeared to be his shiny new boots said, “I did not wear these shoes.”
