Man shot, killed following report of Northern Kentucky burglary, police say

A Northern Kentucky homeowner has died after police responded to a report of a burglary early Tuesday morning in Campbell County, police say.Campbell County officers say they responded to a home in the 7000 block of Kohls Road in Melbourne around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a possible burglary.Officials say responding officers found a man who had been shot on the front porch of the home. The man, identified as Jared Strup Sr., was transported to UC Medical Center, where he later died as a result of his injuries.Campbell County police, in coordination with the Campbell County Special Investigation Response Team, the Campbell County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and other agencies, are continuing to investigate the shooting and process the scene.Police did not provide information regarding a possible suspect.While the investigation remains ongoing, police say the preliminary information indicates the shooting was an isolated incident.
