WOOD CROSS — A large brush fire broke out late Monday that took firefighters hours to fend off, into the early hours Tuesday morning, according to the South Davis Metro Fire Department.
Deputy Chief Jeff Larsen told KSL the fire began in a pile of mulch at approximately 10:30 p.m. near 1550 W. 500 South in Woods Cross.
About 30 firefighters responded alongside Larsen, with others from Farmington and Layton, too.
Just before 6 a.m., Larsen said there were no buildings threatened nearby, and the flames were contained. He estimated residents nearby would likely continue to see smoke for hours afterward.
