Barcelona have reportedly accepted that they will pay £26million to sign Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

The academy graduate joined the La Liga giants on a season-long loan at the beginning of the season as he went in search of first-team minutes, after falling out of favour at Old Trafford.

Rashford found his playing time limited and joined Aston Villa on a short-term loan 12 months ago, but now looks set for a permanent exit from his boyhood club, with reports suggesting that Barcelona are pushing ahead with a move. Spanish outlet Sport have claimed that Hansi Flick’s side have accepted meeting the €30million (£26m) buyout clause and are now working out personal terms.

Rashford is set to take a pay cut in order to join the European juggernauts. The outlet claims that the England international will be happy to make concessions in order to make his move to Barcelona permanent and has already made it clear he’ll do whatever it takes.

The forward’s agents met with sporting director Deco on Monday in a bid to expedite negotiations for his continued stay. Barcelona are working on adjusting his salary and are said to be ‘calmly finalising the agreement’ with the England star, with an announcement set to happen at the end of the season.

The Catalan side are confident that Rashford’s value will increase and the club will be able to recoup their investment should he ever leave the club.

Previously, it was reported that Barcelona were looking to negotiate the price down ahead of a possible summer move, despite Rashford hitting 10 goals and 13 assists across all competitions.

Rashford has previously outlined his intent to make his move permanent and recently captioned an Instagram post with an hourglass emoji, hinting a deal could be close. He said in an interview with SPORT: “I’m adapting very well to the club and the city.

“From the moment I arrived I felt that everyone welcomed me very well. For me, the reason I’m here is to help the team win trophies.

“Last season was fantastic, but in life everything happens very quickly, things change and the goal is to repeat the successes.

“I’m totally focused on this. With the staff and the teammates everything is fantastic, I can’t complain.

“Of course what I want is to stay at Barca. It’s an end goal, but it’s not the reason why I’m training hard and giving it my best.

“The purpose is to win. Barca is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles.”

He added: “There is pressure here, but it is not a negative pressure. It’s the one you want as a player, the one I want and have always wanted as a footballer.

“I can’t be in a place where important objectives are not demanded of you. For me, it is more difficult to be motivated and give my best at a club where the demand is not maximum.

“I’m in the perfect place and environment to continue my journey as a football player, so I just try to do my best every day and help the team win. We’ll see what happens next summer.”
