Golf legend Nancy Lopez will bring a little star power to the opening of a new Walmart in The Villages.
The new Walmart Supercenter will open Wednesday, March 4 at Morse Boulevard and State Road 44.
The grand opening ceremony will kick off at 7:30 a.m., followed by a day-long celebration featuring entertainment, giveaways, and nonprofit grant presentations. The first 300 customers in line will receive a $25 Walmart gift card (limit one gift card per family, while supplies last).
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson will announce an exciting new partnership with Walmart and join Walmart leaders and associates for the 7:30 a.m. ribbon cutting.
Lopez will provide golf tips and insights from noon to 1:30 p.m. The LPGA Hall of Famer, who has a long history with The Villages, will also hold a meet-and-greet.
Other notable personalities on hand will include actor, comedian, and TV host Anthony Anderson and world-renowned saxophonist Mike Phillips, known as the only musician, to have played with the “Big 3,” Michael Jackson, Prince, and Stevie Wonder. Anderson will be at Walmart at 3 p.m. and Phillips will perform from 5:45 to 7 p.m.
