Manchester United have set a deadline on when they want to appoint their next permanent manager, and several senior officials want that person to be Luis Enrique, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Reds sacked Ruben Amorim in January after 14 months in charge, replacing him with legendary midfielder Michael Carrick on an interim basis until the end of the season, when they will look at the available options and make a final decision.
But it has now emerged that the club do not plan on waiting all summer to get their man in place, with INEOS and the club’s decision makers already having a date in mind for when they want the managerial appointment process to be completed by.
Man Utd Want Enrique Before the World Cup

According to a report by the MEN, Man Utd have made the internal decision that they want a new manager in place before the World Cup kicks off on June 11th.
It’s understood that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazer family have agreed on the internal deadline to have everything done, and it’s believed that the process will begin before the season is completed to ensure that the deadline is met.
However, it’s still unclear who will be in the dugout next season. Carrick is still a contender after his remarkable performance in charge so far this season, but the likes of Thomas Tuchel and Carlo Ancelotti have been ruled out after signing extensions with the England and Brazil national teams respectively.
Mauricio Pochettino has also been linked, but he will be in charge of the USA during the tournament, so unless he agrees to take over beforehand, then he is unlikely to be the man in charge either.
However, it’s reported that several senior officials at the club want to bring in Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique as they look to appoint the best in class, but they feel he may be more inclined to sign a new contract with the current European champions. His current deal in France is due to expire in 2027.
Luis Enrique is Best Man Utd Appointment Possible

Man Utd obviously want to appoint the best manager possible, and with Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp both completely unattainable, it’s hard to argue that Enrique isn’t the next best.
He has an exciting and attacking style of play, he wins trophies, he’s dealt with the biggest egos around, and he’s a proven leader and winner. He will get standards where they are meant to be, and bring success back to Old Trafford.
Convincing him to leave PSG for Man Utd won’t be easy, but it’s also not impossible, considering he has already won all he can in France, which has seen him described as ‘the best manager in the world’.
GIVEMESPORT asked ChatGPT what Man Utd could expect from Enrique if he were to become the next manager, and this was its response:
Luis Enrique would demand intense pressing and positional play.
Clear tactical identity; less reactive, more proactive.
Greater trust in young players.
High fitness standards and squad rotation.
Strong personality; confrontational but protective of players.
Expect improved structure, but initial turbulence.
