SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry is making progress in his return from a knee injury and will be re-evaluated in another 10 days, the team announced Sunday afternoon.
Curry has been dealing with runner’s knee for over a month and has not participated in a game since Jan. 30. The team said Sunday that a recent re-evaluation of the injury indicated that Curry was making positive strides.
The Warriors were hopeful Curry would return after the All-Star break, but the knee still wasn’t feeling right when he returned to practice. This latest update means that Curry will miss at least five more games before being re-evaluated. It also reiterates a point he made during an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews during Saturday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, noting that “it’s gonna be a little longer” before he returns.
“I’m feeling better,” Curry said. “This is a weird one. It’s kind of unpredictable how it will heal, but every day since All-Star week has been progress, that’s all I can ask for, and hopefully I’m back out soon.”
The Warriors are 31-29 and sit in eighth place in the Western Conference, three games ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors play the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night.
