ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Albuquerque BioPark celebrated International Polar Bear Awareness Day by honoring its own 29-year-old polar bear, Kiska.
Caretakers at the zoo say polar bears can live up to 30 years in captivity, and Kiska is looking healthy for his age.
Visitors at the event engaged with real polar bear fur, examined a polar bear skull and learned about conservation methods.
The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the species.
