WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – A man was booked into the Wichita County Jail over the weekend after breaking into a home and threatening the occupant with a gun.
In August 2025, Donaven Hamberger broke into an apartment on the 1900 block of 8th Street and threatened the man who lived there with a handgun. The arrest affidavit for this incident states Hamberger was demanding $40 from the victim.
Hamberger told the victim that if he did not give him $40 that, he would shoot him. According to the arrest record, the victim claimed he did not have the money on him and that he needed to go to a nearby Walgreens to take money out of the ATM.
The victim told officers that he and Hamberger walked to Walgreens. The victim told officers that he complied because he feared Hamberger would shoot him, potentially resulting in his death.
While inside the business, the victim was able to get the attention of the store manager, who was able to contact the police. Surveillance footage at the Walgreens was able to identify Hamberger, who was standing outside the establishment with a handgun, waiting for the victim to make his transaction.
During this investigation, the victim shared with officers that his apartment door was closed, but not locked, and that Hamberger was not permitted to enter his home at any time.
Hamberger was charged with Burglary of a Habitation with the intent of committing another felony, Robbery, as well as Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon.
Hamberger was booked on a combined $400,000 bond.
