Multiple shootings in different parts of Sacramento led to an Uber driver being injured and the closure of two major highways on Wednesday. A person of interest is now in custody.The Sacramento Police Department said its officers first went to Dos Rios and Vine streets by the Smythe Academy of Arts Sciences Middle School around 5:30 a.m. after a report of a shooting in the area. The California Highway Patrol said two people in a sedan were shot at along Highway 160 near Northgate Boulevard. The driver drove to safety and parked outside of Smythe Academy to call 911 for help. He was later taken to a hospital.KCRA 3 was able to verify that 51-year-old Phi Pham was injured in that shooting, according to his family.The family says he’s a father of two and an Uber driver who was working early in the morning before the incident happened.Pham was being treated at UC Davis Medical Center. In an update to KCRA 3 around 2:30 p.m., the family said his condition was listed as stable.CHP is handling the investigation because this shooting happened on a freeway. Highway 160 was closed from where it meets with Business 80 while CHP investigated the shooting and searched for shell casings from both this highway and where another shooting was reported in south Sacramento.At 10:16 a.m., officials shut down southbound Interstate 5 near Richards Boulevard, but it reopened around 11 a.m. Officers were seen walking down the freeway as they cased the area for evidence.CHP said it searched for a gray or white Toyota Tacoma with a rack in connection with the shootings.Later Wednesday, LiveCopter 3 was over West El Camino Avenue and Millcreek Drive by the River Terrace apartments, where officers detained two people. Officers interviewed a man and a woman who were inside a gray sedan. The woman was temporarily handcuffed but released from custody, and officers took the man into the back of a patrol car and left the scene. Officers searched the sedan that the detained man was inside of. At 9:30 a.m., a tow truck began loading a pickup truck that matched the description of the vehicle officers were looking for in connection with the shootings. The sedan was also towed.Just before 1:30 p.m., CHP served a search warrant at the apartment complex, but would not say how or why the apartments are connected to the shooting investigation. At least a dozen CHP officers could be seen.Even though the investigation is still in its early stages, CHP believes the shootings were a random act of violence and not targeted. Later Wednesday, LiveCopter 3 was over West El Camino Avenue and Millcreek Drive by the River Terrace apartments, where officers detained two people.

Officers interviewed a man and a woman who were inside a gray sedan.

The woman was temporarily handcuffed but released from custody, and officers took the man into the back of a patrol car and left the scene.
