CANANDAIGUA — The Waterloo Tigers girls basketball team is sectional champions once again.
The No. 2 Tigers defeated the top-seeded Dansville Mustangs 58-24 on Wednesday night during the Section V Class B1 championship game at Finger Lakes Community College.
The victory gives Waterloo its first sectional title since capturing the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class B championship back during the 2023 postseason.
The Tigers were led by junior Gwyn Panek, who scored a game-high 20 points against Dansville (19-4).
Panek was also named Most Valuable Player for the tournament.
Waterloo (18-5) will now play the Class B2 champion Le Roy in the NYSPHSAA Class B Play-In on Saturday right back at FLCC at a time yet to be determined.
