Pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by truck in Kearns

SALT LAKE CITY — A pedestrian was hit by a truck on Wednesday night and hospitalized in what police said was critical condition.

The truck was traveling eastbound on 5415 South and approximately 4620 West when police said the driver hit a 66-year old man in all black clothing.

A KSL reporter on the scene said the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when he was reportedly hit by the truck.

Lt. Shane Manwaring with the Unified Police Department said the driver remained on the scene and was giving the victim CPR when first responders arrived.

That driver stayed on the scene. The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Manwaring said police did not suspect that the driver was impaired.
