WNBA star Cameron Brink was given a useful reality check after briefly hiring a personal chef for herself and her fiancé, Ben Felter.
As Brink explained on her podcast, Straight to Cam, she wasn’t aware of the costs involved when she first hired the person. Only later did she work out the price, but not until after slightly embarrassing herself.
‘What’s your salary?’ she remembered asking the chef after the hire.Â
Upon hearing ‘$7,000 a month,’ Brink responded: ‘OK, well, thank you for your time.’
As she told co-host and family friend Sydel Curry-Lee, the younger sister of Stephen Curry, she simply couldn’t afford $7,000 a month on her $78,000 salary with the LA Sparks.
‘We cannot be doing that,’ the former Stanford star said. ‘That is more than my salary.’
Brink might be exaggerating slightly.Â

As one of the most visible players in the WNBA, the Sparks forward has a number of endorsement deals, including one with New Balance. She earned a reported $200,000 annually in NIL money while attending Stanford and Forbes currently estimates her net worth to be around $2 million.
What’s more, Brink also plays in the 3-on-3 Unrivaled league after signing a multi-year deal. Â
Previously, Chicago Sky star Angel Reese admitted her rent was more than her WNBA salary. But like Brink, Reese makes much more away from the court.
Meanwhile, WNBA players could be looking at a shorter season in 2026 if they can’t reach a new labor deal with the league.
The WNBA told the players’ union that a deal needs to be completed by Tuesday for the upcoming season to start on time.
In addition to starting the season May, the league also needs to conduct an expansion draft for new franchises in Portland and Toronto during the first week of April.
